"Fill Your Family Heart" challenge
February is Heart Month at the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. Please accept our “Fill Your Family Heart” challenge to be a physical activity role model for your family. You can see that the family heart has 14 empty spaces.
Try to spend twenty minutes or more on each of these activities. Once you’ve completed all the spaces at the end of the month, mail your Family Heart to Fran Dunn, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, 5161 George St., Halifax, NS B3J 1K6 to have your name entered in a draw for a prize.
Be sure to send the following information:
Your name and address;
Name of your school;
Names of family members who did these activities with you;
Here are some things you can do together...
• Ask a family member to walk to school with you
• Go for a walk after supper and set some family goals that you can write down
• Put on some music and dance with a family member
• Ask a family member to join you when you walk the dog
• Encourage your parents to go to the neighbourhood playground and act like kids again! Swing and climb together
• Play hide and seek
• Take skating lessons as a family
• Borrow enough equipment such as balls and bats, frisbees, bikes, in-line skates, ice skates and toboggans, so the whole family can play
• Go on a treasure hunt
• Help with snow clearing and make a snow sculpture
