Marilyn MacKay-Lyons

Marilyn was appointed to the Board of Directors in November 2008, also having served for many years on the Stroke Committee, as Chair of the Scientific Advisory Committee, and on the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada Research Policy and Planning Advisory Committee. She is currently an Associate Professor at Dalhousie University's School of Physiotherapy and cross-appointed to the School of Medicine and the IWK Health Centre. Since becoming Atlantic Canada's first clinical research physiotherapist, Marilyn has conducted extensive stroke and spinal cord research with over $4 million in funding and numerous peer-reviewed publications and scientific presentations.

Over the past 30 years, Marilyn has been active in over 25 provincial and national committees and boards. She has received more than 25 awards for her service and accomplishments, including a 2008 Women of Excellence Award and a 2009 Life Membership Award from the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.
